1. Sample Collection

• How? You collect a small stool sample using a kit provided by the company. 
• Where? At home. The kit includes a swab, test tube, and instructions. 
• Then what? We collect the sample and send it to lab in a sealed, prepaid package. 

2. DNA Sequencing & Analysis

Once your sample reaches the lab:

· The DNA of the microbes is extracted. 

· Two common techniques are used: 

· 16S rRNA sequencing – identifies bacterial families and genera. 

· Shotgun metagenomic sequencing – more detailed; shows strains, genes, viruses, and fungi. 

3. Data Interpretation

Bioinformatics software compares your microbial DNA with databases.

• AI or machine learning may be used for health predictions. 

4. Report Generation

Your report will typically include:
 

🧬 Microbial Profile

• Top bacteria in your gut (e.g., Bacteroides, Lactobacillus) 
• Diversity score (how varied your microbiome is—higher is usually better) 
• Relative abundance of key phyla (Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, etc.)

⚖️ Balance & Ratios

• Firmicutes-to-Bacteroidetes ratio (linked to weight, metabolism) 
• Pathogenic vs beneficial bacteria

🚦 Risk Indicators

Risk scores for: 

• Inflammation      
• Leaky gut 
• IBS 
• Blood sugar issues 
• Mental health indicators (e.g., serotonin metabolism)

🍎 Personalized Recommendations

• Foods to eat more/less 
• Suggested probiotics or prebiotics 
• Lifestyle suggestions (stress, sleep, exercise)
